So I’ve been spending a week in Burbank, CA at a week long colorist training with renowned British colorist Kevin Shaw, founder of the International Colorist Academy. I’ve found it particularly helpful and engaging as it relates to colorist strategies and creating popular looks. Most colorists are self taught including senior colorists and so the opportunity to learn from a veteran is extremely valuable. Pictured is the color grading theater where the classes have been being taught at Roush Media on a Digital Vision Nucoda Film Master. I would highly recommend taking any of their classes worldwide if you’re looking for colorist training. More to come…

David Altrogge at Vinegar Hill Pictures sent us this video and write up on a spot they produced for a Christian retreat. It has a very organic and shot-on-the-fly feel to it, which quite often takes a lot of prep to achieve. Cinevate has posted a behind the scenes video of the making of City of Lakes, which we featured earlier on this site. Although it doesn’t contain a ton of useful information, it is entertaining to watch and gives you an idea of the magnitude of this shoot. Remember, this is a wedding film. With that in mind, this was a massive undertaking.

Tonight is the big season final of House, shot on the Canon 5D Mark II. I confess, I’ve never seen more than 5-10 minutes of the show. I have to be picky with my TV and somehow this show has never made my list. I’m sure this episode will get my eyes on Hulu.com, if not for a few minutes. I’m as curious as anybody about how it all looks.

I have a shoot coming up on May 21st & 22nd in Clermont, FL (near Orlando) and I’m looking for a production assistant to assist with a commercial/documentary of Olympic 100m hurdler Damu Cherry. This will be an excellent learning opportunity with pay (not the cheap *ss “you get experience and credit” crap). It will be 1.5 days and the pay is $250 + food. So if you live in or around the Orlando area and would like to help out, please use our “Submit Video” to let me know if you’re interested.
